We trulely believe that aluminium is a fantastic material, which can be used for countless applications. So, apart from being ideal for the manufacturing of aluminium doors and windows, aluminium has been in the spotlight for other uses, such as the all new Rolls-Royce lightweight aluminium spaceframe architecture, which will exceed the next generation of classic cars from 2018.
Tim Pollard explained in his article on carmagazine.co.za that Goodwood is in the process of developing the next generation of these luxury cars and the new architecture will also underpin the 'Cullinan' SUV, which will be launched in the next few years. The Bentley Bentayga and other high-end SUVs are also in the pipeline.
Rolls-Royce are conducting a two-year testing programme to make sure that the new aluminium space-frame structure reflects the Rolls-Royce’s ‘magic-carpet ride’ trademark and absolute resilience to weather conditions.
Future BMW luxury models will be using the same aluminium-intensive spaceframe chassis. Clearly the use for aluminium in the luxury car industry has always been popular, however, the new aluminium spaceframes is going to take the market by storm!
Torsten Müller-Ötvös, chief executive of Rolls-Royce, stated the following:
“This new architecture of pure luxury represents considerable investment in the future of our great brand.”
